BACKGROUND RESOURCES ON THIS PERIOD

It is important to take into account some precedents that it have led us to this situation. According to this, in Spain during the forties took place the dictatorship of General Franco and the Civil War.
During this period of time a lot of Spanish’s soldiers were killed and others were exiled and sent to prisons for a period of politics’ repression, hunger and illness.
In this time, Spain was characterized by an economic policy based on autarky, which it changed in 1959 with a stabilization plan.

Later, it came the fifties with the isolation of Spain, who thanks to its strategic position in the world, it got to ally the United States, in a war against Soviet Union and it supposed the opening of the national economy.
After that, the sixties and early seventies were characterized by an inequality economy, with population´s movements from rural areas to cities, as well as opposition to the dictatorship by workers and students.
Economic growth brought social and political changes. The economical situation was especially important in industry and the services sector in Spain, and as a consequence of this the unemployment decreased, and the births and the foreigner investment increased.

Moreover, the emigration was particularly important in Western Europe (France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium) and since 1963 the health benefits and pension systems grew.
